Module 7

Taking a levels of organization approach, in previous modules we have worked through mechanics, electrostatic force, the structure of matter, chemical thermodynamics & kinetics, the aqeuous solution environment, and organic reaction chemistry. At each transition later topics inherit the conceptual vocabulary from previous topics. Now we are at a crucial point in the course, crossing the bridge into the chemical processes of living systems.

Main Progression

Amino Acids & Protein Structure
Coordination Chemistry
Oxygen Transporters
Enzymes
Zymogens
Connective Tissue Proteins
Carbohydrates
Nucleic Acids
Lipids

Knowledge Mapping

Bird's Eye View - Prepare for your first practice test next module. Comprehensively study the science content from beginning to end.
Conceptual Integration - Integrating concepts from basic physics and chemistry with biochemistry. Integrating biochemistry with the cellular and physiological level. The interdisciplinary discussions this module will help prepare you for reading dense MCAT passages.
Testing - Complete short diagnostic tests in physics, chemistry, and biology.

Psychology & Sociology

Motivation and Emotion

Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills

In Module 1 we begin a regular practice of reading from a variety of nonfiction sources. In addition to beginning our regular reading, we also begin the process of breaking down the CARS exam format as a form with its own set of rules. The better you understand the methods and intentions of the test-writers, the better you will become at interpreting CARS questions.
