The relationship between the resistance of a conductor and its cross sectional area and length is analogous to the relationships governing the resistance to flow of a fluid through a pipe. If the length of the pipe is increased, the resistance to flow increases, while if the cross-sectional area is increased, resistance to flow decreases.
