The bonds between sugar monomers in a polysaccharide are called glycosidic bonds. Glycosidic bonds are ether linkages. Hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds by lysozyme is an enzyme catalyzed acid cleavage of ethers.

Read for comprehension: Abundant in a number of secretions, such as tears, lysozyme functions as part of the body's nonspecific defense against bacteria (especiall Gram positive bacteria). The enzyme attacks peptidoglycans found in the bacterial cell wall by hydrolyzing the bond connecting two amino sugars of peptidoglycan, N-acetyl muramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine.
